Omatsu's companion

Good evening, everyone.

Thank you for always reading the SEEK&FIND blog.

This is Omatsu.

As the weather transitions from autumn to winter, the KENNETH FIELD JUDAH COAT I wrote about in my last blog is now being styled with inner down or sweaters.

The large pockets, inspired by half-moon pockets, also come in handy.

They are deep, and I realized again that this is a convenient piece of clothing for storing gloves to prepare for the morning and evening chill when cycling.

It's interesting how, after some time has passed since purchasing something, you can find new ways to use it in unexpected situations or create unforeseen outfits, and make new discoveries.

I tend to want new things immediately, but sometimes it's nice to revive items that I haven't worn much lately...

These universal straight-leg jeans are from FilMelange, purchased 10 years ago.

They are selvage denim fabric, woven on a shuttle loom.

I decided to buy them because I wanted to break in a pair of rigid 14.5oz stiff denim from scratch.

I loved the unique aging of jeans – the whiskers, fades, and broken stitches – but...

I got caught up in the rapidly changing trends and started wearing wide silhouettes more often.

Additionally, the length was just a little too long for my liking, so I stopped wearing them at some point.

It feels a bit painful to let go of a pair of jeans that I've put so much effort into breaking in.

So I consulted Kunihiro, and he suggested hemming them.

He wears straight-leg jeans similar to mine, but they look completely different.

The hem is a half-break that rests on the opening of the shoe without being rolled up.

For straight silhouettes, wearing them with minimal break at the hem creates a cleaner and more stylish impression.

I also like how the remaining creases from when I used to roll them up now act as an accent.

Now, I'm happy to wear them with any footwear, from leather shoes to sneakers.

I think these are an item I'll keep and repair even if they tear in the future.

Hemming them gave them a fresh look, and I'm delighted that my wardrobe has expanded.

Even if I use them less frequently, I feel that basic clothing items will come in handy again someday.

See you again.
