Have you ever buried your face in denim?

Purchased BONCOURA XX
It may be a misnomer to say "reignited," as my love for them has continued since long ago,
but my passion for denim and BONCOURA has been steadily rising recently.

Why did I buy them at this particular time?
Why these two pairs?
What kind of outfits do I want to wear them with?
There's so much I want to say, but
what's the most important thing I want to convey right now...?
...Oh, right, right.
There are many things, but
I was happy that I bought them.
The day I bought them turned out to be a good day.
It's a very simple thing, but
that might be it.
The night I bought BONCOURA XX.
I went to eat churrasco behind Tokyu in Kichijoji
with Iwanami, whose birthday was two days away.

Iwanami was fascinated by the Made in Brazil knives and forks.
He never changes, and I kind of wished he would stay that way.
The meat was exceptionally delicious,
and it soaked into my body, along with the beer, after a long day of work.
A seemingly endless variety of meats kept coming.
Once we were full, we slowed down, and a relaxed time of just drinks awaited us.
Since we were there, I often ordered drinks I had never heard of before in such settings.
That day, I ordered a drink called Caipirinha, which is apparently Brazil's national drink.
I think it's a distilled spirit based on sugarcane, diluted with water and something else.
But it didn't quite suit my palate, haha.
Using the term "full-bodied" is probably off the mark,
but that's how it felt to me then, and I thought it would probably be better paired with meat during the meal.
Timing and what you pair things with are truly important.
By the time I slowly finished drinking it as the ice melted,
a good time had passed in the blink of an eye.
Or perhaps it passed quickly because it was a good time.
On the train ride home, I was overcome with sleepiness and realized I was at my home station.
Stepping out of the ticket gate, the night air was cold enough for my breath to turn white,
and the scent of a winter night made me realize that the year-end party season was approaching.
I arrived home exactly at midnight, and the last decision of the day loomed.
"Take a shower and go to bed."
"Start the washing machine before showering..."
Without hesitation,
I checked that the washing machine was empty,
then turned the denim inside out and pressed the start button.
It's always been like this for me.
I want to wear newly bought items right away,
and I want to wash raw denim on the same day.
After taking a shower,
I threw a down jacket over my BANANATIME clothes,
tossed the washed denim into a large bag, and was ready.

I dashed into the 24-hour laundromat around 1 AM, grateful for its existence.
I put the denim into my usual dryer, number 7 on the upper right, and inserted four coins.
40 minutes inside out, 10 minutes right side out, is my personally satisfying optimal solution.
When waiting at the laundromat, I don't need earphones.
The clanging mechanical sounds, like a metronome, are something I could listen to forever.
It's a perfect space to reflect on a good day.
Time distorts when waiting at the laundromat.
From about 5 minutes left, time moves noticeably slower than my usual perception.
Is it just me?
While pondering such trivialities,
the dryer beeped, signaling it was finished.
Denim fresh out of the dryer is the best.
The exhilaration of it finally becoming mine,
the vital energy of the item that impulsively led me to a late-night laundromat.
Soft and fluffy, with the faint scent of detergent, gently wrapped those feelings.
I involuntarily buried my face in the denim...
Thank you very much for 2022.
See you again.
