One dose a day / Magical Banana

Magical Banana

When you say banana, you think yellow.

When you say yellow, you think lemon.

When you say lemon, you think sour.

This is the recent bedtime routine that's been repeated consistently.

It's easier than coming up with original stories, and it's less boring than Shiritori, so

it's just right for us now.

Above all, the occasional off-the-wall answers are amusing.

When I ask why they're related, he'll tell me that there's another "○○" of his own inserted between "when you say ○○, you think ○○."

And then there's my bad habit.

I immediately try to link it to clothes again.

Choosing clothes is a magical banana game, an extension of play.

My shopping is a continuous chain of association, like a word association game.

When you say black denim, you think vibrant blue.

January 9, 2025

BONCOURA 2025FW Exhibition.

After excitedly picking out the finest items,

I headed to a vintage clothing store in Amemura.

One of the finds that day was

a bright blue pearl-knit alpaca cardigan.

100% alpaca, made in America in the 50s-60s.

Both condition and price were good.

With a little conscious effort and mostly unconscious habit, the pants I've worn most this year are my 66 black denim.

There are many reasons, but that's just how it is right now.

Black denim, then vibrant blue. That's

the vague feeling I was having at the time.

When you say alpaca cardigan, you think encounter.

I've always wanted different colors of things I liked.

I started researching after I happened to find a bright blue alpaca cardigan.

Many are wool-alpaca blends.

Good condition ones are hard to find due to their age and pearl knit construction.

Prices vary widely. They're subtly difficult to collect.

Then, around the end of January, the boss sent me a killer pass.

He said a vintage shop's Instagram had a cardigan that "you should buy."

I immediately went to check it out and successfully "captured" it.

This one is also 100% alpaca, and both the condition and price are good.

The color was yellow, which wasn't in my mind at all.

I don't know if I'll wear a yellow cardigan, but it was a killer pass right in front of the goal, where all I had to do was tap it in.

Even if the receiving posture is a bit off, it's important to forcefully swing through.

When you say encounter, you think rags.

Days of quietly and persistently searching for items that meet the criteria.

However, weekends are spent with him and the magical banana, so visiting vintage stores is quite difficult.

After putting him to bed, I turn to "Yahoo! Auctions," which I want to call the second Magical Banana.

(Starting from one keyword, looking at images, coming up with new keywords, and searching again... It's exactly like that...)

I was supposed to be avoiding items in bad condition,

but I came full circle, and my hands and eyes stopped at something in excessively bad condition.

The quiet, intense excitement of late night.

It's so worn out that it's clean, and actually, its irreproducibility is good.

It's cheap because it's a rag.

When you say rags, you think Shisa.

I've strayed quite far.

My shopping this year was supposed to start with an association from BONCOURA's black denim, but before I knew it, it was vintage, vintage, rags.

I like vintage clothes, but that's not what I'm aiming for.

I remembered that I like to incorporate vintage items into my styling as a contrast, rather than enjoying a head-to-toe vintage look.

If I were to create a contrast with a ragged alpaca cardigan...

A high-quality Sea Island cotton summer knit?

Or a silk, linen, or summer wool shirt?

There seem to be various ways, but this is how I feel right now.

Shisa peering through the gaps in the rags.

When you say rags, you think Shisa.

The answer to "When you say ○○, you think ○○" varies from person to person.

Even if people acquire the same item, the process they take to get there is diverse, and perhaps their individuality, shaped by their hobbies and lifestyle, quietly resides within it.

Before I knew it, this blog post became rambling again. My apologies.

I feel like it's getting out of hand, so I'm going to bed now.

Have a nice weekend~!!!
