One dose per day / Two exceptions

Hello, this is Kunieda from SEEK&FIND.

Like Miyano from the Shimokitazawa store, I often look back at old blog posts before writing a new one.

I think about what I should write, or what I've written before.

And then I found some foreshadowing that I'd laid out but never followed up on,

so today I'm going to try and tie up those loose ends.

The title is "About the exceptions to the criteria for choosing clothes."

Exception One: "Items you aspire to"

These are items that you want your future self to look good in, even if they don't quite suit you now.

You know those outfits or photos from magazines or movies you saw long ago that stuck with you as aspirations?

You think, "I want to dress like that someday."

That said, it's also true that some styles can only be created once you get used to wearing them.

Some things suit you from the start, while others grow on you as you wear them.

The process of trial and error to make them suit you is also enjoyable.

When an opportunity arises to buy something due to some twist of fate, isn't it worth taking the plunge?

Exception Two: "People you admire"

Items recommended by someone you admire (and trust).

It's like, "If that person says so, then..." and you take a chance.

Sometimes, when something is recommended, you might not even realize "the appeal of the item itself."

You might be skeptical or have a question mark floating above your head.

But then it gradually starts to seem attractive, or you realize immediately after purchasing that it was a good choice.

Sometimes, it might even take a while for it to truly sink in.

Such purchases are exciting and a good opportunity to encounter different ways of looking at things.

I believe that incorporating something that wasn't in your usual sensibility can lead to expanding your style and lifestyle.

Since we're on the subject, here are some of my favorite purchases made according to these two exceptions.

・KENNETH FIELD / 60’s sportscoat & trim trousers (fox brothers gray flannel)

This is a suit I ordered at the KENNETH FIELD Made to Order event held in 2022.

I had always aspired to own a proper tailored suit.

While I still thought it was too early, I figured I might as well get one soon, even if it didn't quite suit me yet.

I'm currently planning to get used to wearing it now so that it will feel right 10 years from now.

As for the fabric and model, I ultimately chose what designer Kusano recommended in literally two seconds (it felt like two seconds).

It became a case of, "If Kusano-san says so..."

I'm enjoying slowly delving into and interpreting for myself why he chose this fabric and this model.

As a result, I was extremely satisfied with my purchase.

And I anticipate that my satisfaction will only grow as I continue to engage with this suit.

That's all for today.
