One dose a day / The denim of all denims

One year has passed since I got my BONCOURA 66 BLACK and XX.

When I first bought them, I intentionally wore them a lot, and after about 2-3 months, they became something I wore unconsciously.

In this blog, I'd like to share what I've rediscovered this past year about the appeal of denim in general and BONCOURA specifically.

Even though it's a perennial favorite at our store, which we repeatedly recommend,

Please allow me to talk about my personal feelings, leaving aside the technical details of stitching and construction.

First, what exactly is the appeal of denim?

For me, denim is:

“A reassuring item” and “an item that makes me a little more easygoing than usual.”

It's a tough fabric that I can wear hard without worrying too much about dirt.

On days when I'm actively playing with my son, a park is no problem. I just wash it when I feel like it.

I don't care if he plays in the sandpit, sits down in a field, or if his tears and snot get on it when he's crying.

On days I wear denim, I'm a little more easygoing than usual.

No matter how you use them, they don't get ruined easily, and they always end up looking cool.

While there are items like sweatpants and tracksuits that are more comfortable,

Denim is probably the only item that pairs well with jackets and leather shoes, and also offers the enjoyment of aging.

It's a reliable item that serves as my everyday wear on weekends playing with my son, and as workwear when I'm at the store.

This is, personally, the appeal of denim that I experience.

Among all denim, what is the appeal of BONCOURA denim for me?

After a little thought, I quickly found the answer.

It is,

“That it embodies the inherent appeal of denim as I perceive it,”

“The appeal of denim = the appeal of BONCOURA denim” can be expressed straightforwardly.

It seems obvious, but I think it's quite a difficult thing to achieve.

It's not about designing something eccentric, nor is it a mere reproduction of vintage denim;

It's made with the best materials, stitching, and attention to detail that designer Morishima could conceive.

It's sturdy, washes well, allows you to enjoy its aging, and is easy to pair with everything from daily wear to traditional outfits.

BONCOURA denim consistently delivers the pure essence of denim at a high level. It is the pinnacle of the ordinary.

I think “the appeal of BONCOURA denim = denim that lets you experience the inherent appeal of denim.”

I'll try to look back on it again in a year if possible.

That's all for today.
