Daily Dose / Sum of the interior angles of a triangle

“The sum of the interior angles of a triangle in invention”

This is an old Indian saying.

If you want to invent something, you need to create three distinct points, like the angles of a triangle.

The sum of the interior angles of any triangle is 180 degrees.

This means that if you give any object three distinct angles, you can create something 180 degrees different – something new.

….

Actually, that’s not true at all.

Everything except the fact that the sum of the interior angles is 180 degrees is my fabricated delusion. My apologies.

However, we have received some truly inventive products that, with one, two, or three quirks,

add a twist to conventional perspectives,

and take an entirely new approach, 180 degrees different from anything else.

Please allow me to introduce them.

YONETOMI / RIGID CASHMERE SWEATER

size : 2 / 3 / 4

price : ¥49,500(tax inc.)

At first glance, it's a simple, plain crew-neck sweater.

Pretty normal, right?

But if you look at the care label...

Huh? It's cashmere, but home washing is okay.

That's not normal at all.

Keywords we use when introducing it in stores are:

"High-density cashmere sweater"

"Cashmere sweater like a sweatshirt or jeans"

"Washable, evolving cashmere sweater"

It's definitely not normal.

This sweater features a manufacturing process and design that are 180 degrees different from typical cashmere sweaters.

In the process of twisting fibers into a single yarn, cashmere yarn is typically loosely twisted to maximize its unique texture.

The resulting yarn is then loosely knitted, as if incorporating air,

to create a soft and fluffy sweater.

In contrast, the special cashmere yarn for Yonetomi is twisted as tightly as possible, to the point where the fibers almost break,

resulting in a remarkably firm yarn unlike typical cashmere.

This firm yarn is then luxuriously knitted with a high density, leaving no room for air.

The resulting fabric,

in stark contrast to ordinary cashmere sweaters characterized by smoothness, softness, and lightness,

possesses characteristics of firmness, body, and weight.

Many knit products of this thickness are designed with a silhouette that conforms to the body, but a comfortable, relaxed design like a sweatshirt is also great.

To share a bit more of my personal thoughts,

I also like products made from 100% fluffy, soft, and supple cashmere.

Or rather, I don't own any, so I yearn for them.

While they are delicate and cannot be home-washed, that's precisely why they offer an exquisite feel and a special touch.

Products that maximize the charm of cashmere

have been loved by royalty and nobility for a long time, and there must be good reasons for that.

Therefore, I don't believe that this Yonetomi sweater's value

comes solely from being "easy to wash" or having "a production process completely opposite to conventional cashmere products."

“I want people to feel closer to cashmere materials and knitwear.”

“Wouldn’t it be interesting to have a product like ‘growing knitwear,’ or ‘rigid cashmere’?”

I believe the true value lies in how it excites and thrills us with such a close, everyday perspective.

How about one?
